There
are some incredibly moving scenes in this film between the protagonist
Aleksandra and her grandson Denis. As a film, I still don't know what to
make of it and I'm not sure it works as a whole. But, the small subtle
movements and words between the young Russian soldiers, the Chechens in
the war ridden town and this elderly woman says much more about war than
many mainstream films today.
